Tree Buried in the Name of Forest is a representation of aspects such as poor artificiality and emotional delusion through a series
of images. Its digital images of Saryeoni Forest generate an optical illusion of movement. Those
images of this grove convey the sound of water and waves. And then they are instantly converted into
a forest. In this work, virtual images going beyond actual ones demonstrate inner space and time. A
stray tree asks after us who are left behind in this land. Is one who lost their way one who has settled
down? Or, is one who lost their way one who is uprooted and drifts away?
A forest stretches out: it becomes a dot or disappears. The subject of appreciation is turned into
sound at the moment images of every object disappear from the place of a forest.
<숲이라는 이름에 묻힌 나무>는 이미지를 통해 인공의 허술함과 감정의 착각을 들여다보았다.
사려니숲을 대상으로 한 디지털 이미지는 착시의 방식을 통해 움직임을 만들어낸다. 숲의 부감은 처음에는
파도인가 싶은 이미지로 물의 소리를 전해준다. 그리고 어느 순간 숲으로 전환된다.
실체의 이미지를 넘어선 가상의 이미지는 시간과 공간의 정의에서 벗어난 이면의 공간과 시간을 보여준다.
길을 잃은 나무는 남겨진 땅의 우리에게 안부를 묻는다. 길을 잃은 쪽은 뿌리를 내리고 있는 쪽일까?
혹은 뿌리째 뽑혀 떠다니는 존재일까?
숲이 펼쳐진다. 점이 되었다가 사라지기도 한다. 숲이라는 장소에서 모든 사물의 이미지가 사라지는 순간, 감상
의 주체는 소리로 전환된다

In the age of the pandemic, we have decided to look into our lost regards, ecological devastation, and impending extinction.
We started the video by saying ‘Hello’
In the artificial graphic image, the tree becomes a new being and asks for greetings.
The tree used to be garbage, but then it was sculpted again and settled in the forest as a virtual image.
Saying hello to the forests that may someday disappear and the trees that are now extinct.
3D scan data was the best material to highlight the virtual existence that disappeared rather than the real tree.
How we could use technology and creative tools to create
So our forest is imaginary. It’s an idea.

삶은 ‘이동과 고립의 대립’이라는 새로운 구도에 닻을 내리고 전개되고 있다. 코로나 19가 세계를 강타하는 동안, 이미 오래전부터 고립이 익숙했던 사람들과 고립을 이해하게 된 상당수의 사람들이 공존한다. 우리의 새로운 작업이 제기하는 질문은 ‘존재하지 않는 것’이 주는 매혹이었다. 공동체의 흔적 안에서 느낄 수 없었던 고독과 고립에 대한 관찰은 혼자 남겨진 시간 속에서 발견된다. 그리고 이 팬데믹 시대에 우리는 잃어버린 시선, 생태계 파괴와 임박한 멸종에 대해 들여다보기로 했다. 그래서 이 영상은 <안녕하세요.> 라는 인사말로 시작한다.
인공의 그래픽이미지 속 나무는 새로운 존재가 되어 인사를 건넨다.
원래 해양쓰레기였던 나무는 가상의 이미지로 다시 숲에 놓이면서 조각이 되었다.
언젠가 사라질 숲과 지금은 멸종된 나무들에게 인사를 전한다. 3D 스캔데이터는 실제 나무보다 사라진 가상의 존재를 드러내기에 가장 좋은 소재였다.
우리는 어떻게 기술과 창의적인 도구를 통해 상상을 만들어낼 수 있을까 질문했다.
그래서 우리의 숲은 상상이며, 아이디어이다.
길 잃은 나무는 이 땅에 남겨진 우리에게 묻는다. 정작 길을 잃은 사람은 뿌리를 내리고 정착한 쪽인지. 아니면 갈 길을 잃은 채 뿌리가 뽑혀 떠내려가는 쪽인지?
숲이 펼쳐진다. 그것은 점이 되거나 사라진다.
숲에서 모든 사물의 이미지가 사라지는 순간 감상의 대상은 소리로 변한다.
순환의 시간을 함께 살아가는 우리는 점을 구성된 가상의 숲에 서서, 서로에게 안부를 묻는다. 포스트 코로나 시대, 팬데믹을 거치면서 사람들에게 오히려 가까워진 것은 자연이었고, 시선의 방향, 그 끝에 나무를 두고 숲을 두었다. 산책의 순간은 착각, 시선, 걷기, 중첩된 시간의 순환이 뒤섞인 채로 길에서 길로 이어진다.
